Why we should trust projections of global warming by climate models Presented by

Prof. Tom Anderson, National Oceanography Centre, Southampton

Just how reliable are projections of global warming during the 21st century, given the complexity of the climate system? Prof. Tom Anderson will show that warming can be separated into two components, baseline warming due to the greenhouse effect (attenuation of radiation in the atmosphere by absorption and scattering) and extra warming due to climate feedbacks. By understanding uncertainties in the climate system based on this separation, he will then demonstrate that the projections of warming made by the big Earth System Models are fundamentally trustworthy.

Doors open 6.30pm Presentation begins promptly at 7.30pm.  Bowl of homemade soup, chunk of Welsh Cheddar and Artisan bread available for £5.  Bar will be open.
