4Square

“Simply Stunning” (John Tams), this is an evening certainly not to be missed.

Manchester ferocious folk foursome. Combining four hugely talented young musicians (one of whom you may recognise if you came to the Jaywalkers gig in Feb’) and a host of musical styles, you’re left with an experience which takes you through a musical journey. 4Square play their music with finesse, fire and virtuosity, yet an understated maturity which has grown throughout their seven year journey as a band. The sight and sound of simultaneous fiddle and clog dancing and virtuosic mandolin will stir the senses and quicken the pulse, galvanised by an engine-room of driving piano and percussion. By contrast, the listener is then stirred and softened by 4Square’s mellow, melancholic three part-harmony singing.

An outright musical journey, all in an acoustic setting.

4Square are “amazing…based on the range of music they tap into: traditional folk, clog dancing, their own compositions, and influences ranging from jazz to Cuban rhythms to Radiohead.” – The Folk Show, BBC Radio 2″

“Oustanding musicianship, total assurance, abundant energy and exceeding confidence…dripping in very obvious talent” – Dave Kidman, netrhythms.com
